Applications

Cytometry

Cytometry literally means “the measurement of cells”. Measuring cells is key to good cell biology and good tools are required to enable good measurement.

Screening

High content screening (HCS) is used to identify compounds such as small molecules that result in a desired change to the phenotype of a cell, micro-tissue or model organism.

Imaging

Fluorescence microscopy uses fluorescence instead of, or in addition to, transmission and diffraction to study properties of cells, tissues and small organisms.

In-Vitro Toxicology

In vitro toxicity testing studies the effects of toxic chemical substances on cultured cells or micro-tissues.

In-Cell Westerns™

In-Cell Western™ assays measure the change of intracellular protein expression under different conditions for a total cell population in a well.

Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting

Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS™) is a development of flow cytometry that enables sorting of a mixture of cells into two or more fractions, cell-by-cell, utilising the scatter and fluorescence signals of each cell.

Apoptosis

Apoptosis (a.k.a. “programmed cell death”) is a form of cell death in which an ordered series of events leads to destruction of a single cell without release of unwanted material into the tissue milieu (c.f. necrosis, with the risk of inflammation).

Cell Health Assays

Cell health assays are an important tool in drug discovery. Cell health assays are used to screen candidate small molecules for cellular toxicity that cannot be inferred by other methodologies.
