CyGEL™ long-term imaging LIVE non-adhered cells
CyGEL™ uniquely enables imaging of LIVE non-adhered cells over several hours ..
The recently published work of Upton, et al from the laboratory of Andrew P Gilmore (Manchester, UK) used CyGEL™ to immobilise epithelial cells after detachment from the extra-cellular matrix (ECM).
The features of CyGEL™ were key since:
- The stochastic apoptotic processes required several hours of imaging
- The cells had to be kept away from surfaces such as the imaging chamber coverslip and from potential cell-cell contact
- The chosen cells required an environment of supporting medium and growth factors for continued viability
- Fluorescence imaging required an optically-inert, clear scaffold for the cells
