CyGEL™ key references
Imaging live cells
The first reference to CyGEL™ was published in 2007 enabling novel research on anoikis. The research was done in the laboratory of Dr Andrew P Gilmore, University of Manchester, UK.
3-D Imaging
An application note developed by GE Healthcare Biosciences to support use of their IN Cell Analyzer 1000 demonstrates the use of CyGEL and fluorescent microspheres to improve z-sectioning and spatial resolution. This was demonstrated with zebrafish embryos. DRAQ5 was used as DNA dye to visualise the nucleated cells.
Live parasite imaging
Scientists in the laboratories of Professor Debbie Smith at the University of York have validated CyGEL for live parasite imaging, using leishmania and trypanosomes. They also showed CyGEL to be an excellent carrier for fluorescent viability and organelle probes. Organisms could be imaged for up to 2 hours before being recovered from CyGEL.
Zebrafish Embryo Injection
Dr Yolanda Alvarez, in the lab of Breandan Kennedy (UCD Conway Institute, Dublin) has developed a new method that makes the injection of compounds into 1-2 dpf embryos much simpler.
