CyGEL sets standard for zebrafish micro-injections
Posted: 28-Jan-2010
The thermo-reversible hydrogel mountant CyGELTM (Biostatus Ltd., UK) offers a new, simplified method for the micro-injection of zebrafish embryos.
Live embryos are placed in CyGEL, injected and then gently recovered into embryo medium.
The ability to repeatedly set and liquefy CyGEL by raising or lowering the temperature allows preferred orientation of any object and its ultimate recovery with excellent viability.
The sol/gel transition temperature for CyGEL has been set at room temperature for user convenience and physiological benefit.
For additional control, CyGEL accepts anaesthetics such as MS-222.
CyGEL is set to allow new techniques in zebrafish research.
