Laser Scanning Slide & Microplate Cytometry cell cycle analysis on Acumen eX3
Advantages of using DRAQ5™ on a microplate cytometer:-
- Violet and laser remain free for blue, green and FRET dyes
- cell cycle metric on LIVE or fixed cells: no RNase treatment
- No spectral overlap with the green channel e.g. FITC, EGFP, Alexa 488

DRAQ5™ has been evaluated for cell cycle analysis and compared directly with Hoechst 34580 and Propidium Iodide on the Acumen® eX3 microplate cytometer. (Payne et al, 2007).
In this work DRAQ5™ was demonstrated to give equivalent results to the other DNA dyes compared. Its far-red emission makes it highly compatible with other common fluorophores in multiplex analyses. The screening performance of the Acumen eX3 and the properties of DRAQ5™ make this a strong combination in HCS.
